At Wood International we are constantly evolving to ensure that we meet new global environmental legislation, and, where possible, lead the industry with new initiatives and projects.
We continue to pride ourselves in being the first UK agency to develop and then import FSC ® hardwood plywood into the UK with Gethal Amazonas.
We are conscious of the increasing focus on environmentally ethical sourcing and practice being applied to manufacturing and construction projects across all elements of industry and commerce. Responsible sourcing is vital, and the need to take care of the worlds’ forests is always at the forefront of our business
Our long standing membership of The Timber Trade Federation demonstrates that we meet or exceed the exacting standards laid out in the members Code of Conduct, which incorporates a Responsible Purchasing Policy and Environmental Code of Practice.
The aim of this code is to provide a generic set of commitments to ensure that companies are taking all possible steps to minimize their impact on the environment and source their timber products responsibly.
The Forest Stewardship Council® is a global, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide. Wood International holds FSC® Chain of Custody Certification and we source many products which are FSC® certified.
The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification is the world’s largest forest certification system. Its standards seek to transform the way forests are managed both global and local levels, to ensure that we can all enjoy the environmental, social and economic benefits that forests offer. Wood International holds PEFC Chain of Custody Certification and we have many products in our portfolio which are PEFC certified.
More and more consumer products contain endorsements and third party environmental labels. To help show your support for well-managed forests, choose products bearing the PEFC logo. PEFC’s distinctive ‘two trees’ label is now a globally-recognised brand. It can be found on a huge range of products, providing consumers around the world with the knowledge that the wood or fibre used in the product originates from a responsibly-managed forest.
Responsible sourcing of materials is a central aspect of modern, ethical and sustainable business. Wood International is one of more than 16,000 companies around the world to have achieved PEFC Chain of Custody certification and is committed to the goals of corporate social responsibility and sustainable procurement.
Chain of Custody Certification is the process of tracking certified material from the forest through the supply chain. It proves that each step of the supply chain from the forest to the end-user has been monitored closely with independent auditing. This unbroken link is transparent proof that certified forest products such as timber, paper and packaging materials were sourced from a responsibly-managed forest.
Our Chain of Custody certificate number is: CU-PEFC-806533. Click here to view our certificate on the PEFC website.
Wood International Agency Ltd holds PEFC Chain of Custody and has been independently audited by Control Union and is authorised to display the PEFC logo on and off product.
