Mike Lamont

Chairman and Founder

Mike has been involved in the timber trade for more than 50 years. He began as an apprentice at the age of 16 and went on to work for a large timber importer. After building experience with an American company selling Far Eastern and American plywood he established Wood International Agency in 1977. As the company forges ahead towards its 50th anniversary Mike’s industry knowledge and experience remain invaluable, and his drive and passion continue to shape the business as it moves forward into the future.



Alan Lamont

Managing Director

During his early years with the company, Alan lived in the USA, where he worked at various plywood, OSB, MDF, lumber and gypsum/fibre manufacturing plants. Here he developed a detailed knowledge of forestry, production, logistics and the various commercial functions.

In the 1990s he began to sell Southern Yellow Pine plywood into the UK, and OSB into South Africa and the Middle East. He also began working extensively on the FiberBond project, and learnt to sell to specifiers and architects, holding various seminars around the country, creating a strong market presence on a specifier driven product. At the end of the 1990s Wood International became the first agency to import FSC® plywood from Gethal Amazonas into the UK, and at this time Alan began to get heavily involved with the Chilean and Brazilian plywood industries.

Will Lindenberg

Director

Clare Lamont

Director

Will joined Wood International in 2016. Already experienced and respected across the industry Will joined from a leading UK based panel and DIY timber agency. Over the 12 years that he worked there, he successfully developed and supplied many panel products into both domestic and European markets.

Building on his existing experience Will’s remit is to develop and grow business within his own division of Wood International. The thorough knowledge Will has of the industry along, with his enthusiasm and drive to succeed, further enhances the Wood International offer.

Clare has a solid marketing and PR background. Her career began with roles for luxury household brands Aga and Arthur Price.

Building on her consumer marketing experience Clare became Marketing Manager at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock. Here she was responsible for planning and executing the centres entire marketing activity and managing the associated marketing budget. Clare took a career break in 2007 to raise children and then joined Wood International in 2013 to provide support across the business.

Paul Gutteridge

Financial Controller

Shaun Ross

Key Account Manager

Paul began his career at an accountancy practice where he obtained his AAT qualification. He then moved to a commercial environment and went on to work with both small and medium sized companies in a variety of industries across Essex.

He gained experience in dealing with international companies and currencies before becoming Financial Director of a growing packaging company. Relocation of the business lead Paul to take redundancy, and seek new opportunities. Paul joined Wood International Agency in 2019 bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team.

After a spell of work experience at Wood International in 2013 to support his degree in Accounts, Finance and Business, Shaun was offered a permanent position. Shaun has had the opportunity to work across all functions of the business and has become a highly valued member of the team.

His product and industry knowledge have grown over the years and he is now responsible for managing relationships with both customers and suppliers.

Lee Corston-Love

Shipping and Logistics Manager

Elizabeth Lott

Administrator

With over 30 years of experience in the shipping and freight forwarding industry, Lee’s knowledge and experience are a huge asset to Wood International. He is responsible for the company’s shipping and cross trade department. Elizabeth has over 30 years of shipping and office administration experience. She joined Wood International in 2015 to support the administrative team. She is responsible for customer invoicing and documentation including receiving and sending out original Bills of Lading to shipping lines.

Amy Mann

Administrator

Amy graduated from York St John University with a BA Hons in Counselling Studies. Returning to her home in Essex she took a position within The Post Office, gaining experience in customer service and information processing. Amy brought her administrative skills to Wood International and is now a key member of the admin team.

We deal with all import licences, certificates and manufacturing declarations. We also have detailed knowledge of global import tax requirements.
