Mike Lamont

Founder and Chairman

Mike has been involved in the timber trade for more than 50 years. He began as an apprentice at the age of 16 and went on to work for a large timber importer. Having worked for an American company selling Far Eastern and American plywood he then established Wood International Agency in 1977. As the company nears its 40th anniversary Mike’s industry knowledge and experience are invaluable, and his drive and passion continue to shape the business as it moves forward into the future.

Alan Lamont

Managing Director

During his early years with the company, Alan lived in the USA, where he worked at various plywood, OSB, MDF, lumber and gypsum/fibre manufacturing plants. Here he developed a detailed knowledge of forestry, production, logistics and the various commercial functions. In the 1990s he began to sell Southern Yellow Pine plywood into the UK, and OSB into South Africa and the Middle East. He also began working extensively on the FiberBond project, and learnt to sell to specifiers and architects, holding various seminars around the country, creating a strong market presence on a specifier driven product. At the end of the 1990s Wood International became the first agency to import FSC® plywood from Gethal Amazonas into the UK, and at this time Alan began to get heavily involved with the Chilean and Brazilian plywood industries.

Clare Lamont


David Herbert

Financial Controller

Clare has a solid marketing and PR background. Her career began with roles for luxury household brands Aga and Arthur Price. Building on her consumer marketing experience Clare became Marketing Manager at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock. Here she was responsible for planning and executing the centres entire marketing activity and managing the associated marketing budget. Clare took a career break in 2007 to raise children and then joined Wood International in 2013 to provide support across the business. David originally trained as a Marine Engineer and moved into various technical roles for large scale manufacturing businesses around Europe, including Philip Morris, Cargill and Hoesch AG.

After deciding to make a career change he retrained to become a Management Accountant in 2008. Since then he has worked for large chartered accountants gaining valuable knowledge and expertise in many industries. David joined Wood International in 2014 bringing his knowledge and experience to the team.

Lee Corston-Love

Shipping and Logistics Manager

Rose James

Documentation & Shipping Administrator

With over 25 years of experience in the shipping and freight forwarding industry,
Lee’ s knowledge and experience are a huge asset to Wood International.  He is responsible for the company’s shipping
and cross trade department.
Rose is responsible for customer invoicing and the issue of documentation. The service we provide is tailored to each customers requirements, to ensure we deliver this promise Rose has a full understanding of each customer’s specific needs.

Assistant Administrator

After coming to Wood International in 2013 for work experience to support his degree in Accounts, Finance and Business, Shaun was offered a permanent position. Shaun has had the opportunity to build knowledge across all functions of the business and now works primarily within the accounts department.

Shaun also provides support to the Managing Director and is developing detailed product and industry knowledge.

Elizabeth has over 30 years of shipping and office administration experience. She joined Wood International in 2015 to support the administrative team. She is responsible for customer invoicing and documentation including receiving and sending out original Bills of Lading to shipping lines.

She also provides administrative support to the whole office.
